You are looking at the magazine release. Put a magazine in the gun,push what you think is a safety and see if the magazine don`t come out. BTW,that is a modified mag catch(with thinner rails) made by Walt Manufacturing.

You safety is probably a flip(or wing if you prefer),beside the magazine catch.
