The first pics looks like a mockup of the carbine too. Looks like he has it taped on. The others look more like the spike with two rings that was tried by some...simple affair.

The carbine in the first photo with the taped on knife is just a model and not a real carbine. The modified carbine with the spike bayonet was found to be weak over all and a spike bayonet is not as useful as a blade/knife type. But the mounting idea was later adapted by Howa when they made the carbines for Thailand.

20 rd mag
it seems to have the 20 rd mag as well as no slot for oiler- also no cut in hand guard-I doubt was a mock up made of something not made--I remember reading someplace about the invention of the oiler and slot being done by Winchester engineer after the prototypes winch were done--5?? memory?? I do not remember them having the the oiler cut--the first 20 made by inland had the oiler thing but did not have the cut in hand guard--again memory

What it LOOKS like is a butt from a Red Ryder BB gun. It looks like the whole of the carbine from the front band back was wrapped by cloth. This ain't some scarce carbine, just a handmade bayonet.

Another that I'd like to wring out, I suppose it would resemble the Mini 14 though...
