Phone "Internet" scam
I wondered how many others have recently been getting "scam" phone calls, sometimes pre-recorded, claiming that there is a problem with your internet and urgent action is needed to be taken otherwise your internet could be lost? It has been a real nuisance for the last few weeks because we have been getting these calls numerous times even though the phone is put down as soon as it is realised what the call is.
Do NOT do what the scammer ask you to do, just put the phone down immediately.

In this day and age, does anyone actually answer unknown numbers? I certainly do not. That's what voicemail is for!

In my household we answer the phone if it rings and someone is in; we don't automatically expect a scammer on the other end.

Well, I still have a landline and will continue to...and because my eyes aren't like they used to be I can't always see who's calling on this call display. I'll answer and if there's a pregnant pause of the computer handling the call and no one immediately there, hang up. I understand if you don't answer the spam calls they drop you from the list. anyway, I don't expect to get taken or scammed anytime soon... I'm a hard sell when I want something let alone some weird sales guy...

I certainly do not - then again, I usually turn the stupid thing off if I'm not actively using it which is 99.99999% of the time.

I've taken to enjoying phone calls from these Folks. Most end in them talking to me in the nastiest way, cursing, and then hanging up. I guess it annoys them when you waste their time. Jeff (obviously his Punjabi name) threatened harm to my person, after a long conversation about like and the mysteries of the east. Jeff called an MF to which I responded that INDEED I WAS! and his mother was my favorite and enjoyed it the most from all directions and he could be perhaps my son that I found no value in keeping due to the ignorance he exhibits.

................................Pretend they have phoned a CRIME SCENE and turn it round on the caller, and ask them how they knew the "Now dead recipient" that'll do it, especially if they phone using a phone number and you know the dialling location, tell them an officer is on his way to interview them!!!

What annoyed me was that when an elderly relative recently answered one of these calls at my home, she was told that if she didn't do what she was told, immediately, the police were going to arrive, in double quick time, and arrest her. Fortunately she hung up. As far as I am aware the police in the UK
don't currently announce an arrest beforehand, nor do they do it "by appointment" and they don't do it at the request of private firms or individuals because someone hasn't "complied" with a dodgy phone-call.
I do intend to say that "I've forgotten how to speak English", in German
and see how they react to that.

They purchase them from legitimate organizations such as banks and others...your car dealership where you bought a car, anyone else that has chance to have your number. They pay well.
