Hello everyone, just got a addition to my MILSURP Collection and its a beauty. So without getting run out of town by those of you who are a little bit more educated with regards to Enfields then I am I just wanted to say I traded this bad boy for an SKS sooooo even if it is a "frankengun" its still pretty cool for me and extremely excited to join the Lee Enfield fraternity

Any info anyone wants to share please feel free....so here we go

- SN - P28993A (on Receiver and bolt handle)
- Receiver marked with No4Mk1 (no * and nothing else)
-LB 66 markings on, Lower front hand guard
-LB on Safety, Mag housing, butt stock
- Stock is in fantastic shape and almost to good to be true
- Bluing is in fantastic shape and almost to good to be true (if its been redone its not a hack job)
- Rear flip up sight is stamped with Mk3 on the slide part and M47 on the base part

I have a 1942 No.4 Mk1* 16L0251 (all matching bar magazine which is stamped PF144884)

I must admit not being a purist I have, swapped out the stock for a longer one and yes it does have a brass stoke plate than again it apparently shouldn’t, and I may have had some scope pads added. Sadly the scope is an 2014 RSM, but maybe that will change one day. Sorry if the inaccurate modification offend, one day maybe il have a genuine on.

2L281 was part of a 1997 auction catalog : « The Charnwood Ordnance collection of Lee Enfield ».
It is possible that there is an error in the catalog.
But, in 2005 on the Internet, I found the photo of a No. 4 Mk I * from 1942 s / n 2L788.
I do not have the picture but, there were only three digits behind the L
If I find a s / n 12L212X, I note in my statement 12L2120.
If I find a 12L21XX s / n, I note in my 12L2150 statement.
2L788, there was no hidden number.

I have an matching LB No4mk1* 1942 with the serial 83L7404? It doesn’t seems to make sense. Should be a ‘45. All metal parts are stamped LB. Metal and wood has C broad marks. No refurb mark.

It's possible. Receivers were worked in "Batch" style, so those at the bottom of the stack could have remained there for a while, while newer receivers were stacked on them. Admittedly, a 1945 is / 1942 is a very wide gap. I see often in 1942/1943, less so in 1943/1944.
Never say never with Enfields.
