SMLE trigger guard bushing substitute ..or.. More attempts to not buy old SMLE stock

Has anyone in Oz found a readily available substitute for that trigger guard screw front bushing that people seem to love removing, or was that another custom size part?

    Cheers,

The hollow metal tube that holds many table lamps together is a perfect ID and OD. Some are threaded full length but others, the ones to look for, are only threaded on the ends. Just cut to length.

I have found an excellent source for tubular spacers on a number of rifles, in the form of old golf clubs. The taper or step design means you can usually get the diameter you want. Old clubs can be found in 2nd-hand shops for a song, and the metal is the toughest, springiest steel available. You'll need a grinder to cut it approximately, then grind your piece to length - a hacksaw blade gives up if you try to cut this tubing.

I've found trying to get the some of the smaller parts in OZ very frustrating. More so for the outlandish prices many seem to want for them these days. For few months I've been after the screw that holds the dumbbell shaped safety spring (sorry if these are not the correct MOD terminologies for the parts - Im sitting at work on night-shift and don't have access to my reference books) on a Lithgowicon No1 Mk111 - the prices I've been asked, i would expect to get a box of them!

Thanks for your replies & offers. I managed to get one for $A10 & add it in with an order for some reloading supplies. So hopefully soon, with a bit more sawing, gluing, & bits of Tasmanian Oak from Bunnings Hardware Supplies, I'll be able to get the most Fugly SMLE in the world shooting.
    Bore's not too bad though.

    Cheers,

    DeeBee

    Try Bunnings

I have found in Bunnings something that works,it's the two way screw.
Called J & J bottle screw 4MM (in stainless steel).
You can cut with angle grinder the size you need, smooth down with file.
Internal diameter is just right size for king screw external diameter is just a fly's wisker larger, but goes in not to tight.
And you have enough to make more.
    Works for me.

On speaking to a gunsmith at Military shoot for Remembrance Day Australiaicon, you need to make the length to fit according to number of king screw turns etc.
He said the directions are on this site have not found it yet.
    Hope this helps.
    Just found it........
look up "Stock fitting Torque" Peter Laidlericon on this site.
