Italian Breda Made barrel markings explanation, please
Hello Milsurp Friends,
I have been trying to find out, so I thought I would also ask on this forum.
Can anyone explain what the 2 digits (62 on this barrel) in the middle of the Breda M1
Garand barrel stamping mean? I have seen this stamping with different 2 digits in the middle. I haven;t been able to find out what they mean.
Please help? Documentation would be great, too.

Could be 6th day of February possibly. No idea really but I know how they write out their dates so it kinda makes sense?

Have been presented with that theory, but from the examples of barrel stamping that I have seen, it doesn't work. Meaning that a "Month/Day"
scenario would necessitate up to 4 digits in the middle of the stamp. I have only seen 2 digits. However, the theory remains on the table,
in absence of any other reasoning, as the numbers I have seen are all different.

I thought they were plant numbers.

Plant....as in Factory? How many different "Plants" would be making these? I have seen 3 distinct two digit numbers and at least 1 Single digit number.
Guess it will remain a mystery.

They had a lot of plants, only a few of which were involved in rifle components.
