Ishapore
The extractor spring seems to apply excessive force on the extractor to the point that it will not allow extractor to slip into the cartridge extraction groove preventing the bolt from closing. Has anyone encountered this?
I have order springs but not totally sure they will fit. I have #4 rifles if they don’t fit the Ishapore. Yes I did remove the bolt head and cleaned with brake cleaner and lightly lubricated.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

To which model of Ishapore are you referring ?
I'm guessing a 2A or 2A1.
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

I had the same problem with an Ishapore 2A1. The extractor was actually slightly bent and would not let the blot close. The extractor would not seat in the extractor slot. It sort of went a little to fat and was hitting up against on the side of the chamber. So I could not close the bolt unless there was a cartridge case in the chamber. I purchased a new extractor from Numrich and that solved my problem. If you are lucky … might be you have the same issue I had. It was a cheap fix for me.

I forgot to mention the obvious here. If you have an Ishapore No1 mk3 then use a .303 exctractor. If you have a 2A or a 2A1 you would need a 7.62x51 extractor. Just wondering out loud here … might be bent, or maybe the wrong sized extractor. Who knows! I hope you can solve the issue as easily as I managed to solve my extractor issue.
