SWAMPS OF BELIZE - SA80 - MOD PHOTO AWARD WINNER
Here are a couple of shots of 2 PARA in the jungles of Belize where the Army photographer has won an award for his photos.
Always interesting to see that all the scopes are removed in those steamy climates leaving just open sights, the very basics of the rifles design!!

Well, at CQB you almost want instinctive shooting anyway. The sights sometimes aren't even needed...let alone enhanced optic...

As a white-haired old man speaking from the experiences of his 'tropical vacation' in sunny Southeast Asia in the 1960s, sneaking about in waist deep water on people in a tropical rain forest who are trying to sneak up on you for the purpose of killing is NOT fun.
Done it then; glad I won't have to do it again.

Those pictures look like paintings.
One assumes the guys sitting around a fire are doing so some place safe.
"...waist deep water...a tropical rain forest..." In which wee things live that cause bad things to happen. And everything else is out to get you.

I presume thats why he won his class, as they went through the swamp he set it up having placed lighting around the swamp mist for best effect, however, the detail on the subject to patrol commander was outstanding, and as you say like a painting!
The card game was in a basher as the exercise ended and before the wash up the next morning....hairdown time, its called "Happy Families" ha ha!!.
Some hardened faces there after many Iraq and Afghan tours

Gil, I don't suppose you have any info on the cameras used by any chance, please? Presumably MOD "official photographers" use digital cameras nowadays?

I know they are using NIKON but not sure what series these days.
In my day it was the standard Asahi Pentax 35mm B/W that was it lol
