My example does not have stamped "made in the USA". It just says U.S.A. NO 79. 8C .and I also just noticed that my example is a pair of type 1 service shoes, upgraded to a type 2 by adding the rubber sole to the front. I guess that's what the repair tag stands for from 1943. Mine were evidently upgraded to the type 2 and never worn again. The rubber sole on the front does indeed have US army molded into it, but where mine was upgraded to a type 2, I'm not so sure the type 1's without the rubber soles would have US army stamped anywhere
