Carry harness for the Bren Gun tripod ?
Was there a specially made carry/harness other than using the two rifle slings for the Bren gun tripod ? Any pictures of it would be nice to see .

Jim have you seen these in use ? Some say they were never issued for the Bren tripod .

I think the MLU thread puts to rest any use of anything other than a pair of Enfield slings to carry the tripod. Myself and other collectors tried to use those load bearing harnesses on tripods, and it is impossible to use. The post on the MLU thread about the harnesses being to carry the mortar or piat tubes makes the most sense.

They have been around for years and are for carrying a stretcher.....
The Bren tripod takes to slings.
Regular length ...

I had come across what at first glance appeared to be a standard Lee Enfield cloth sling. When I put in on a No.4, it was waayy too long. It took a second for the neurons to fire, and I realized it was a bren gun sling. I knew they were around, but it was the first one I ever got my hands on. As I had no use for it, my brother traded me for a standard Canadian
marked Lee Enfield sling.

Bren slings were popular for use on the No.4Mk.1T too.

I knew that this had been discussed here before: https://www.milsurps.com/showthread.php?t=60641&page=2
A couple of years ago at an event a trader had a box of Enfield style slings for sale on his stall and so I asked him if there were any Bren slings in the box but he was adamant that the box contained only rifle slings. I carefully examined all of the "rifle" slings and found one "rifle" sling significantly longer than all of the other slings. I was more than happy to buy an extra long "rifle" sling for exactly the same price as all of the other slings in the box which the trader was adamant was a rifle sling and on that particular occasion I too was happy to agree was a rifle sling but which most people would call a bren sling.

If I recall correctly, the Bren sling was originally a rifle sling with Bren hooks added. Then it became a rifle sling with an additional length added to the middle and then late war (44?) or even post war a true single piece of web material sling was introduced as the Sling, Bren Mk2?
It all makes for an interesting history.......if you like that kind of thing.
