krag mfg. date and info

hi all!, newbie here, wondering if I can get some help I,d ing a krag i'm thinking of buying. the ser. no. is 813073. mod. 1898, any ser. no. places I've gone to don't seem to go that high. it's been sporterized so I don't know if it was a carbine or long rifle or what? I can't really pass on it case it's priced very reasonable. any help would be great! THANKS!

Can't be that high. You should look again...check... If the first is a "3" instead of "8" then it's a cut down rifle. If you had a few pics we could help quicker.
