Canceling vice Panic Buying...

Today I called Classic Firearms to order a Romanian TTC Tokarev Pistol by phone since their web order system won't allow sales of this pistol to California. Like me, their staff are working from home, Classic Firearms has some of the best people working for them.

During the ordering process, we were talking about the panic buying that's been going on and she mentioned something that I had not even thought about.

She told me that while they have been inundated with orders for guns and ammo, they are getting a lot of people calling cancel orderer thy place because they have been laid-off or are on furloughed without pay from their job.

Guess that's the sadder side of this COVAID-19 is all the people and families who have lost their lively hood. I've been down that road a number of times but have at least the ability to look for a job; you can't even do that right now.

My heart and thoughts go out to all those impacted.

You can't buy guns in Pennsylvania right now because all the gun shops are closed. Can't do a PICS check either which is necessary. Private sales can continue but nothing from FFL dealers and no handguns. I've been trying to not spend money right now but did order ammunition and magazines for various things. We have plenty of savings not that I want to spend it, and large credit card limits which we traditionally pay off but in theory would no longer have to do until things change. Hate doing that also We will have no food expenses to amount to anything for a month or two, house is paid off. Just the car and truck and our health insurance to worry about. I would obviously prefer to still be working and I may pick up some repair work here and there, that's still allowed. 20% are believed to be out of work at this instant here.

Feel for a lot of people out there right now. I have enough guns and ammo, our freezers and pantry are full.
Here in Alberta the oil patch drives the economy. With Covid-19 I don't see it coming back soon.
I'm 62 and nobody's hiring old farts like me right now. I hope things will turn around.
We have money set aside but with the downturn of the economy and this pandemic.
It sure is not looking rosier for our retirement.

I work part-time in a gun shop in New Jersey since Sunday everything is in lock down. Gun shops are considered non-essential and the NICS check in NJ is closed. After Pennsylvania did there lock down and closure of gun shops, i started to get loads of folks from Pennsylvania and Philadelphia trying to buy firearms and ammunition. Out of state residents can buy firearms but they have to be transferred to a Dealer in Pennsylvania but the PA dealers are closed. Catch-22! Rifle and Shotgun ammunition was OK but handgun and hollow point ammunition required a NJ Firearms ID Card. Sorry Out Luck (SOL). Only if the PA resident had a License to carry were we permitted to sale handgun ammunition. We did get a lot of liberals in trying to buy a firearm for self-protection thinking it was easy like getting a driver's license. They were a bit shocked to find out the cost and time involved to get the required permits. I encouraged them they should not have given up their rights so easy next time. I was a bit surprised at the buying patterns of the general public. The first to go were the AR platforms, next was the AK types then the Shockwave and Tac-14 Other weapons. We did not have a problem getting ammunition. We did not rise the price on ammunition to make a great profit as we understood that after the crisis these folks would be our customers later. I was surprised that good used firearms did not sale. We had about seven Mosin Nagant 1989/30 Rifles completed with bayonet, ammo pouches, cleaning tools with plenty of ammo and they did not move at all. We had plenty of Mossberg, Remington and Benelli riot 12 Gauge shotguns which move out rather quickly and twice the price of the Mosin Nagants Go fiqure! Personally I have always rather prepared these types of crisis so I am sitting here typing away as the rest of the world comes apart at the seams. Likewise...I don't seem to be shorthanded right now. My make work projects would be making more ammo I guess...

Should have told them to go on the Internet. One can buy weapons of war, machine guns, armor piecing assault clips and silencers on there don't ya know? Plus, they get shipped for free right to your door with no checks or permits.

This seems to be the theme across the nation. It just amazes me.
