My county has officially rebelled. Must have been the poignant email I sent yesterday. They even used some of the same reasoning in their letter to the governor. While my email was only about three sentences long, they expanded it into several paragraphs. They "requested" the governor open the county immediately. If he does not, they will open it on their own on Friday with or without his approval.
Supposedly 10 of the remaining 30 counties have declared their intent to open with or without the governors approval this Friday.

A friend and colleague, today, sent me a link to a site of Italian
policemen.
He is a former cop too, and told me to read a few of the articles they write and distribute “among their community”.
He also told me that a good number of his fellow colleagues have protested against the way the citizen are treated and started refusing to fine people for trivial or arbitrary covid-related issues.
I read the article, then I read many more.
Since March already, they started warning against the unconstitutional measures that were being enforced against the population, pointing out that people were getting afraid of the Police and angry against them also. That a fracture between the population and the authority was starting to grow.
The latest articles are showing signs of very deep internal, moral sufference, with policemen writing that they did not swear to break the constitution, but to protect it, that their job was not checking people out of shops and arguing if the goods they bought were necessary or not.
They also talked about and showed videos and pictures of real manhunts against joggers, with the use of drones and, in one almost comical case (if it weren’t that grave!) the chase given to a man who was running alone on the beach at sunrise, with Carabinieris chasing him and a helicopter following him from above.
I was surprised by this internal struggle, which resembles, mirroring it, my own. And that of many Italians. But not enough of them yet...
It made me feel very good and thankful that something like this is happening, because that means that there is still hope.
So, I decided to write them a long email, telling them all those things, that I’m a honest citizen who was starting to really feel uncomfortable in this situation. Being treated like a criminal and in a completely inconstitutional way, without sensible rules, without even the slightest of outlook that one could consider realistic. That I wore the uniform myself, as an officer in the Alpini, and that I felt so bad feeling uncomfortable when seeing a uniform on the roads in these days. And, that feeling and understanding their internal struggle, I felt the urge to thank them. And to apologise for feeling surprised by their institutional sensitivity.
I sent a copy of the mail to my friend, because I knew he would appreciate, thanking him too for this wonderful surprise.
He answered that I made him weep, and that I should f..ck off;-D

It is getting nasty here. Instead of backing down quietly, the governor made a massive number of enemies today. He called those that want to return to work "cowards" today and threatened anyone that wanted to conduct business against the "law" would lose their licenses, health certificates and any benefits they might otherwise have. He also suggested that they would lose their insurance. As for the counties themselves, he will withhold all aid and in addition to this, all normal funding. He also told all those that want to hide in their basements (which is where he's been most of this time) that they were the brave ones.
So up is down, evil is good, black is white.
Here are the problems. Those that want to take action despite the threat are not the cowards, those sitting quietly waiting for the next government handout are the new heroes. And there is no LAW that is being broken. His proclamations are not laws at all. Only the legislature can create and pass laws according to our state constitution. He does not have that authority. Nor does he have the authority to withhold funding, that too is the job of the legislature. Law enforcement in these counties is on the side of the county, not the state
Not sure where this is going to go but a lot of people are infuriated over his comments.
It knocks you off your feet when you hear this man's speech. He hasn't taken a question from anyone since this started. Only pre-approved questions and practiced answers.
He had another of these moments a few weeks ago when he was asked if workers who did not return to their jobs would lose their unemployment benefits. His answer was no. Then he went off script and said, you know what the answer is, pay them more. That would amount to a $15 per hour raise to flip burgers at McDonald's. I don't think so.

I feel sorry or you guys suffering the inadequacies of lack lustre leadeship.
We were doing ok but a worker in a hotel in Perth in lockdown has tested positive now we wait to see if it becomes a source of an outbreak.
On a lighter note as I said we fairly tore it up on Saturday last and in a break waiting for a mate and his wife my other friend took a happy snap unknown to me of myself sitting on my 1199 Tricolore it was a good day with plenty of twisties and some nice long straights.
I did a fly by my mate wringing the dukes neck in 4th and it scared the crap outa him as he did not hear me coming over his exhaust but heard my Termignonis when I was beside him at err anyway fast speed whence I disapeared with my other mate him on his 1050 Triumph triple.

Such days are worth millions right now. Just because you don’t know if, when and where someone will be allowed to enjoy them. According to sensiible laws, or just to rules set by young Adolfs...
Police guys answered my mail today, thanking me, because they are living in very dire straits themselves right now, and appreciate that someone understands how they too feel...even if it’s just a few of them right now.
I keep living an almost normal life since my basic decision.
And other people are following my humble example.
I’m curious to see how I might react to an eforcement of law now...
I’m enjoying life again. Not really willing to allow anyone to limit me. Especially since I formally follow all rules set to allow me to go to work.
Logic is what I’m after right now...
