[Mark in Rochester]

American soldiers, probably men of 8th Cavalry Regiment, captured by Chinese in their 1st Phase Campaign.

One of the Chinese is apparently armed with a 9mm Sten Mark 2 Machine Carbine, and the other with a Japanese 6.5mmType 38 WWII rifle . The CCF soldier with the Sten has spare magazines on his cartridge webbing, the one with the rifle carries stick grenades.

Probably propaganda for the Peoples Army... A friend of mine told me all they say was Japanese weapons in use...so no surprise there. The Sten would have been a Long Branch I should think.

Accounts of the time show that the Chinese were armed with a bazaar of weapons, including a lot of '03 Springfields given to the Nationalists in the civil war. The Marines on Fox Hill even recovered a Belgian 30-06 FN-49.
