1903 mark one ???

This rifle was given to me as payment for helping a friend clean out the attic of his sporting goods store. That was about 15 years ago and the business had been in the family for 75 years at that time. I found it in a crate with approximately 20 other long arms of various types. The serial number and barrel both dating to 1919. Straight bolt and smooth trigger. There are very few stamps or marks on the rifle. There are flaming shells on the forward receiver ring and at the muzzle both with punch marks. There are no inspectors marks on the stock which has a glossy finish. The muzzle measures zero with my CMP gauge. To me it appears to not has been fired. Is this just a nice rifle or is there something I cant figure out . Other pictures can be added. Thanks

Wow, that looks like an absolutely mint Mark I. FYI, it's a bent, not straight bolt. I don't know if it has all the other Mark I bits, but the oblong hole on the left side is an ejection port for the .30 cal. Pederson Device.

The stock is not cut for the Pederson ejection port, that color sure looks like the USMC rebuilds along with the punch mark ?

Very nice looking gun. Definitely a refinish, whether for USMC or not. An original finish is very dark gray, almost glossy black.

Bolt is assuredly early, "straight" handle vs. rearward swept handle. Most likely non-double heat treated. There will be a code on the handle root and/or safety lug to determine date of manufacture for the bolt.
