    Yep, they are Curtiss JN-4 Jenny's, and yes thousands of them were sold off cheap for $50 each in the early 20's by the US Govt, many of them never used and still in crates. They were very much the favourite mount of the Barnstormer groups, because of their stability and slow flying speed - as seen in that clip.
