K43 with original scope

Gents,

I have the opportunity to save a K43. The owner is not a collector and we are trying to ascertain a mutually fair price. It's a panel cut AC44. Bolt and carrier match (didn't take the bolt further apart to look deeper). The top of the bolt carrier has a weird shiny spot, it doesn't look ground or anything and I can't figure out for the life of me what happened. The front sight hood is missing and the retaining spring for the nose has the tip broken off. The upper handguard is cracked. Scope is very clear and the turrets click. Bore is 95% and there's no damage in the areas that it would occur. It has two magazines. What do you all think would be a fair price on something like this? I would like to get a shooters kit and shoot it.

What it's worth would take a bit of research on your part, a quick check of Gunbroker and a few other sites should tell you roughly where the price range is. Than hone down to the rifle you actually have. I don't have and it sounds like you don't have the expertise to verify it's bonafides it sounds like. So should you not get an answer here, I'd suggest k98kforum. My understanding is these are in a family of rifles that are absolutely rife with fakes and nonsense. Start there. Good luck! If it's what it appears to be, you have a fine piece for a collection.

Consider pricing the rifle and scope separately, to arrive at a quick value. However, a dedicated sniper should be worth more than the component parts if the provenance can be determined.

Its impossible to prove a K43 with a scope is an original dedicated marksman rifle, unless numbers match, on the numbers on this one don't appear to match. But nto all scope mounts got numbered by this time late in the war, and many were added in the field as all K43's had the scope mount fitted in the factory, so a scope of an original could be taken off in the field and just slid onto another K43 and it would work (as per the ZF41 on the K98k)
The 'ac' code on this rifle show it to be a Walther made K43, and the scope code 'ddx' shows as being a Voigtlander und Sohn made scope, so they are the right combination of makes for a real sniper K43, as in general the Mauser made K43 snipers were all fitted with Voigtlander und Sohn scopes, whereas in general the BLM made rifles used 'dou' made scopes.

As to value, I would have thought as it is, anything from $3,000-3,500 upwards would be my very uneducated guess?

Scope mount is late type with phosphated bands, originally was on a Walther made G/K.43 rifle for having the 359 acceptance in the middle. Since it is not matching numbers to the rifle there is no proof the rifle was an original sniper. If you want to get the maximum, sell the mount separately from the rifle, you'll be getting good money for it. The rifle itself is nice if it wasn't for someone who filed flat the very rough casted surface on the bolt carrier. Though the picture is blurry in this area you can see what I'd identify as file markings. And usually there were raised areas in there. So that does harm the value of the rifle a bit. Regarding the value, I'd agree with the poster above.

From my experience I have see prices all over the place from $200 to $1200 as scope is period not original does drop value, Auction setting could drive value up one gets 3-4 buyers... Value is tentative as to what one is willing to pay. And the "Deepness and Rich" the pockets are
