Book Recommendations Japanese Rifle and Parts
Can some one recommend a book(s) on the Japanese rifle and its parts identification. I have "Military Rifles of Japan", but I am looking of more detailed information on the parts like the bands, bolts, safety, sights.

Thanks but I am looking for a book with the information. The schematic does not provide the information on the various parts and changes.

All I did was went onto ABE books site and put in search - Arisaka Rifle; you could probably find more as well on Amazon or just Google and type Books on Arisaka Rifle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The two books you are looking for are out of print and seem hard to find on the loose.
1st. "The Type 38 Arisaka" by Francis C. Allan
This is the current bible on the subject covering most all of the 6.5mm family of rifles the Japanese used, starting with the Type 38 rifle (this does not cover the earlier T-30 etc., he has a different publication for those).
This is a project that was started by the late Harold W. Macy and with the help of the Banzai organization (Special Project #8) in which members reported examples they had in their collections or observed over a 25 year period using a data sheet that covered all the parts and changes of the time. After Mr. Macy's passing, Mr. Allan took up the challenge to finish Harold's work of compiling all of this data into a book that would benefit the collecting community interested in the 6.5 Japanese weapons. It is a must have if you collect Japanese 6.5 weapons.
#2 "The Japanese Type 99 Arisaka Rifle" by Don Voigt. Basically the same principle as above. The Banzai organization (Special Project #11) provided years worth of data sheets that Mr. Voigt compiled into this work.
Hope this is useful info for you.

Rummage around here. Dunno if there is such info on Japanese stuff, but that'll be there. Or where to find it will be. Teri is an academic and treats her hobby like an academic. Very thorough.
