No need to boil to get that kind of result. A long... long... time ago... in a gallery far far away I built a steamer that puts out a good amount of pressure through its nozzle. The end of the nozzle being rubber allows me to press it against the wood to help it penetrate the wood fibers. Makes short work in lifting dents AND removing oils, paints, and even cosmolineicon however, I only use it on the worst cases and waring lots of PPE, steam is no joke.
