p14 Vs 1917 stock interchangability

I acquired a bastardized/sporterized p14 and I would like to put it back into a military stock. The bolt SN doesn't match the remainder of the gun so I'm not overly concerned with it being super collectible. While searching for a stock, is a 1917 an option and what are the differences? Thanks for the help

I’m not positive about your question directly but I think you will find a P14 stock cheaper than a 1917 stock.

I fit a DP p-14 stock to a barreled m17 action. Exactly opposite what you would like to accomplish... however,
The mag well in-letting needed slightly lengthened at both the front and rear.
Also the barrel channel required a very small bit of additional clearance near the chamber reinforce and very slightly along it's entire length to the nose of the stock but not quite to the bearing surface.
I also seem to remember creating some additional clearance for the magazine floor plate and radius of the bottom metal where it tapers to the front action screw.
A small sharp chisel and barrel channel scraper made short work of the whole matter.

I would assume a P-14 barreled action would drop in with just small excessive clearances for the areas I mentioned above.
Now it's a M17 with a plate for the volley sight and two transverse holes through the beginning of the barrel trough.

The main differences between the two is the volley sight on a P14 and the magazine well is shaped slightly different between the 2. One stock will work with the other and vice versa. It has been my experience here in the US anyway that a M1917 stock is much easier to find than one for a P14.

My buddy had a sporter P14. I had a spare M1917 stock (no handguard). He tried to make it work but without some inletting and the fact I wanted $100, he declined to try the project. Something will need to be done as if it was a drop in he would have dickered with me to get it.

I'm looking at them now. Thanks for the heads up.
I also saw that Numrich has a reman stock ($207.50) but the description is a bit confusing as it calls it both a P14 and a 1917. Is anyone familiar with this piece?
