Tried both a 1911 and a High Power last night. The High power fits and the 1911 does not? I will take some photos this week end.
It seems a perfect fit for the High Power. The mystery has deepened.

"...Most everything that fits 1911 will fit a Browning..." That is absolute glib nonsense.
"...High power fits and the 1911 does not..." That'd suggest it might well be Indian Army issue and just looks like a 1911A1 holster. I'm not seeing anywhere that India ever issued American kit before or after Independence in 1947. Sikh's have been in the Bengal and Indian, British
East Indian Army since 1847. There are 20 battalions in the Sikh Regiment. It is the most decorated regiment of the Indian Army too.
Spelling and Grammar count!

Mystery solved
Not sure if I addressed this elsewhere. Holster seems to fit perfectly my new Indian Army
Mk2A1 Inglis pattern Hi Power. Bonus ***Midway has the RA Marked Hi Power magazines.
