No 4(T) Faz

Does anyone in our community have an actual example of a Fazakerley No. 4
converted into a No4(T) in England during WWII? By that, I don’t mean rifles that have been reworked in India or Pakistan..I’ve seen them mentioned over the years but never seen a decent photo.

Well done smleaddict! I knew we'd seen at least one at some point in the past that looked the real deal.

Incidentally, & IIRC, there is at least one & possibly more (speaking from failing memory now) serials on the L42 list that start with a '2' suggesting a Faz produced rifle. It could also be indicative of a re-serialled rifle as well, or it could be a typo, but on the face of it there may well have been one or two Faz L42's..........Quite a rarity.

Thanks, I remember that thread and I believe it’s the only one I’ve ever seen documented on the forum. I’m hoping a non-FTR’d specimen will surface one day.

I have seen one other since then, at an RIA event. It too, was FTR and looked very much like the one in the original posting from 2017. IIRC, it also had a 2XXXX digit serial number. It went for a good chunk of change. I was pretty penniless as I just blew my wad on a few other Lee's, so I was unable to bid on it. As a side note, I have only seen two Fazakerley T's; Miller Tymes' and the RIA one.

I do have a 1941 Maltby in "T" guise, also FTR'd. I've only seen four Maltby T's, and I wound up buying one of them. Maltby or Fazakerley; Pretty scare rifles when compared to everything else out there.

Goodevening Gentlemen, have not been on the forum for a while as the wife and I have been fighting the covid bug. I still have the Fazakerley "T" and have had it to the range a couple of times. Shoots ok with surplus ammo, but what it needs is hand loads, which is in the offing once this craziness ends.

Yup. That rifle is currently living in my gun safe! Nice '41 Maltby. It was listed as a Faz, but it is a Maltby. Roll stamp markings on receiver, Maltby inspection stamps, and a 17*** serial number. I was fortunate enough to have a spare original cheekrest I scrounged many years ago to install. It currently has a DRP repro mount, and an HBM Co scope. Shoots great with handloads. I have this posted under the "range report" forum. All handloads.

I must be thinking of another auction. I've seen one other Faz like yours in an auction, and it brought dear money.

I have seen one other Faz 4T, here in the UK many years ago. I'm embarrassed to say that I turned down the opportunity to buy it as whilst it looked intuitively ok to me on general inspection, like most others at that time I was accepting of the generally perceived 'knowledge' that no Faz rifles were ever converted to 4T's. The passage of time & the appearance of the internet have made us all a lot better informed.............if only I'd followed my instincts thirty years ago! Never mind........maybe I'll see another one one day.
