Sure a shame about those op-rod handle dings in the left side, I'd be trying to steam those out to see if it would work.
I would give that a try if he wants me too. But that's part of the character of the rifle. A service rifle is going to have bumps and bruises.

Great time to get a gift like that. I ordered 2 more service grades a month ago (still processing) so that my kids will have a chance to have one when they are ready. It won't be long before the supply dries up.

They are running low on the black cases but yes that's what they come in now and they are extremely nice. I thought the tan were better than the green but the black blow both of them away.

I was looking at my son's trigger group and it has a WRA trigger guard according to the data on USRIFLECAL30M1 it should be;
SA Trigger Guard C46025 Type 1G December/1941 to July/1944 425001 - 3000000 Milled, rear hole. May show various inspectors numbers or initials. No Markings.
I was thinking about trying to find one over there and replace it, but so far haven't found one. Just looks odd to flip the rifle over and see a WRA The trigger housing D28290-12-SA is correct.

M1 from CMP sales
Nice purchase, the correct cartouche is SA over GAW, your SA EMcF stock is valuable with such a nice cartouche. It is possible to somewhat date your EMcF stock with a few answers:
the clip latch cut (left side) curved on bottom or flat bottom ?
do you have the small crossed cannon stamp on the pistol grip flat ?
I have an original SA 2,77 mil with a SA 4-44 dated barrel, well used too.
trigger housing and bolt should be revision 12, trigger guard could either way: milled or early stamped (most are milled - no drawing number)Attachment 114092
