    RIC barrel bushing/sleeve

    Hey guys,
so this winter i want to restore this RIC Carbine that i got a year ago.
It is missing the barrel muzzle bushing (or sleeve)
i have a friend that can easily turn me one but i would like to confirm the dimensions.
Anybody has the specs for it or has precise dimensions of an original ?
I have an original RIC (desporterized by someone else) but would like to double check before starting.

    For length i have 0.988
    Diameter i have is 0.656
And the barrel it's going onto has a diameter of 0.566... so the inside diameter of the sleeve/bushing should be the same.
If the fit is tight i could probably just tap it into place with a drop of Loctite.

One more thing, anybody knows if the RIC muzzle barrel would have been crowned, under the sleeve ?
I'm thinking mine was re crowned after the sleeve was removed.
    Thanks for all the help

If you have a second made, I would happily pay. I'm in the same boat. Silver solder would probably work best.

Silver solder os great stuff, but you have to be REALLY careful not to overheat things with the torch and cause evil things to happen to the bore at the muzzle.

One old trick is to pack the relevant section of bore with charcoal and then SOFT solder, after thorough cleaning, fluxing and tinning the barrel and the interior of the collar.

I'm sure there are folks MUCH more "crafty" than I am, who can provide greater detail.

I know silver solder is relatively easy and straightforward (in theory at least) but having ZERO experience with something like this i prefer to pay someone to do it for me rather than risk ruining a barrel.
Plus... the previous owner of the RIC decided to move the front sight a bit backward in the attempt to replicate a LEC. (he also had started to modify a Mk III fore end)
We can see the old emplacement where it was, there's a fine line of old brass solder still visible.
So anyway... the front sight would also have to be reposition to its rightful place and that is also something i am not comfortable to undertake.

So what does the charcoal do? I wouldn't have thought it would be very good at drawing out the heat. A close fitting brass rod of as long a length as possible in the barrel, and wrapped with some brass shim stock to make it tight under the area being soldered, that might draw enough heat away.

So i'm still in the process of having that sleeve reproduce and it would be very helpful if anyone could provide a closeup pictures of the muzzle crown and the rear end near the sight ?
After searching online i'm realizing very few good shots of those are out there.
I do have another RIC with the sleeve but i'm starting to think it might be a reproduction too or the crown was redone. (that carbine was also a restoration when i got it)
    Here's mine.
