Bob, that is a beautiful rifle what is it chambered in? I was just looking at the Henry Color Case Hardened Side loader in 44 Mag. But I would much rather have this but that's pretty much in my dreams, one of the reasons I don't collect Winchesters is that they are way overpriced because of the Winchester Name.

Thank you for your kind words. That rifle is chambered in the sort of rare Winchester 38-40 round. If you don't reload for yourself you have to buy them from Cowboy Action outfitters. If you know your '92s, you know that John Browning designed the rifle as a scaled-down version of his 1886 rifle to take pistol-caliber rounds. The idea was that you would be able to carry one type ammo for both pistol and rifle.



Before I inherited my dad's rifle I had always wanted it because it hung over the fireplace in my bedroom while I grew up I. Because the odds were three to one (I have two brothers) I did a bunch of research into buying either a used model '92 or a modern replica. If you don't demand perfection, the originals can be had pretty cheaply, not too far from the cost of the modern replica. The best replica I've seen is the TAYLOR'S MODEL 92. The price isn't terrible and the modern rifles are usually chambered in less expensive modern calibers like .357.

Being your Dad's rifle I know it is. I feel the same for my Remington Model 12 .22, it was my Grandfather, my Dad shot it as a kid, and it was given to me as my first rifle. Thanks for showing it and for your website.

ORD 9 SNL A-48 - Rifle, Subcaliber, Cal. .30, M1903A2_1944-10-06.pdf was uploaded to the Other TM & FM folders. The original source is rather crappy but is the only source I know of or have found. It is much improved.
