Regarding the Japaneseicon copies of the Royal Doulton ceramic water filters, I happened to take this still from a video of diving in Truk Lagoon. The object on the left which resembles a stoneware jar is clearly labelled "...Filter..." So there it is in the flesh. Looks like the maker is "Okano & Co. Ltd." Obviously they were exporting them before the war.
