Good bye Remington - Dating a Remington 700 ADL

I pick up a Remington 700 ADL a while back that did not look to have ever been fired. I was trying to figure out the year it was built. This is normally easy because Remington marked (or marked) their rifles with letter codes on the barrel. The problem I ran into is that the letter samps were not struck all the way. Only the tops of the letters are present. So I was guessing the stamp was EG which could be October 1986 or more likely since its a synthetic stock near what they look like today October 2012.

Wasn't sure so I tried to use Remington's email service on their website to see if they could tell me based on the serial number and it came back with an error. So I tried to call them. Well looks like Remington is no longer reachable there is no answer on the phone number listed. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised. I will miss one of my favorite gun companies.

The first letter is the month and Remington uses the words BLACK POWDER as their decoder B= January, L = February, and so on..... based on that I concluded that the first letter must be E.

The second one is the bigger issue it could be a C or G its not so clear to me.

I don’t know why I let it bother me so much, I noticed that there is a punch mark on the trigger bolt release which means that it was fixed during the trigger recall for rifles made between 2006 and 2014 iwhich means it’s definitely either made in 2008 or 2012 (C = 2008 and G = 2012)

    Wel...because you want to know. I have 760, 742, 700 x 2, Mod 34, 552, 572 and 870. I get it. Then I try to remember when they were all made.

Remington is in the process of filing chapter 11 bankruptcy. You do know that the site is actually Remington Outdoor, don't you?
