Nice purchase...You plan on shooting in the near future or is it more for an investment?

I little of both. My main reason was because my wife’s father was a company runner for the 2ID and was KIA June 13, 1944. He was posthumously awarded the DSC. I’m not sure if he as a runner would have carried the Carbine or the Garand
but I have one of them on order also. The second reason is I have a feeling that these are going to become very scarce in the future.

Very nice, Cranky64. I'm no expert on Inlands but it seems like your 6 digit may even have it's original barrel, a bonus indeed. Let us know how she shoots as well as when you get another carbine to keep it company! ;-)

Here is some more info.
The hammer has an M stamped on it
the sear has an R I
the trigger guard has a K on the bottom and a W on the side. The bolt has a U, The barrel is 1-43 and there is what looks like a I O inside the hand guard. The front sight has a N
I have 2 mags one is stamped LU and the other is II
