Remington Model 721 .270 Winchester

Yesterday took a 88 mile jaunt out to check out a possible new camping site for the family and ran across a Remington Model 721 .270 Win rifle sitting on the shelf of a pawnshop and for the price it was one of those that I couldn't say no to, especially since its one of those rifles that was on my want list. Date code shows it was made OCT 1948.

It does not have a bolt so I'll have to find one for it. Should still come in well below what I would have paid for a complete rifle.

I found one for 200.00 with the correct 1948 features. Bit more then I wanted to pay. Now hopefully it will headspace correctly and I won’t have to rework the rifle.

All the best in finding a 721 bolt - if you just want the rifle to work, a long standard bolt face bolt for a Model 700 will fit - only visible difference will be the swept back checkered bolt hand vs a straight uncheckered one.

I had considered that but then I found out that I would need to inlet the stock for the bolt handle to fit into the handle relief. I do find it interesting that the bolts between the 721, 722, and the 700's are somewhat interchangeable. Thank you for the help and suggestion.
