With a production of over 1 million rifles, there are bound to be variations in markings over time. I have been fortunate to locate most of them. Not including font variations due to the marking stamps being replaced as they wore out.
Not an extremely exciting area of collecting but since I had them out I had to share.
1941 Vary rare as there most likely is less than 1,500 made and dated
1942(body wall) Harder to find as they changed the date location between 11C and 12C
1942(butt socket) Easy to find, continued until year-end, around 35C
1943(butt socket) Easy to find, continued, but not continuous to around 51C to 60C
1943(butt socket with square S on socket and body wall) around 46C (this one I am missing)
1943(body wall) Harder to find, I have only seen them around 46C to 47C (finish is always poor on these for some reason?)
Undated from around 57C to finish easiest to find as they made up about half of production.
Bayonets, square S, square S in a box (small), square S in a box (large)Information
