RSA Enfield ShtLE Mk.III* Date Question
I have an RSA Enfield made SMLE from 1916. Is it possible to know the approximate time of year it was made by the serial number? It's a "Z" block rifle, so i'm assuming it was very late in the year. I'd heard that BSA started 1916 off in the "Z" block but can't find any info regarding Enfield's production run.

Is it really an RSA ?
Can you post pictures of the markings ?
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

I don't really know much about British
guns, so it's to be expected. This is kind of why - Royal Small Arms Enfield isn't the same as Enfield, apparently.

Don't worry, it's easily done. You might have been confusing RSA (Republic of South Africa) with the Royal Small Arms Factory (RSAF) Enfield Lock, the original 'home' of Enfields.........or alternatively, with BSA (Birmingham Small Arms) another major manufacturer of Enfields.
