Tools No. 32 Sighting Telescope No.1 Mk.1 & No.2 Mk. 1
So I am yet to see the key and tongues No32 scope tools for sale, either as originals or reproductions. Has any one else?
Assuming not I was thinking of taking the nice diagrams from PL’s little scope book and having a go.... my concern is that while I am an engineer by training it was in the electrical and electronic arts and sadly not in the mechanical discipline. Has any one made any of these and if so do you have any practical advice?

Somebody might have had a go at the scissor pattern Michael, but if they have I've never come across them. I just have one original example in my collection. As you will probably have seen, everyone & his dog sells reproductions of the other type.

Yes I have a few of the other type, some original, some less so. But I am keen to try the scissor pattern.

If you mean 'these' - yes I've seen them for sale, and, I've bought them.
Peter previously said they are extremely rare as they were so useless they were all scrapped.
They are not cheap to buy (think £'00s)

Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

This and their associated key, the No.2 tool are exactly what I am after. Interest I was thinking they would be quite a lot easier to use. Personally I find the combined tool a constant frustration as I invariably move the adjustment screw, or the drum as it sighted the locking ring, so bing able to hold screw and drum static while using a separate tool to lock up seems far more manageable.... but maybe I am labouring under a miss apprehension. .

Unless you have a good friend to help you, or have 3 hands then the No1 Mk1 tool is unusable - hence when they were issued the Armourers scrapped them.

Once you learn how to set the the proper tension jam collar, you can skid the adjustment lead screw and it is a no brainer to set the scope up.
Then, just snug up the jam nut and hope the lead screw does not move.
It may take a time or two to get it down pat.
Works on all the model scopes and you can also get the Mk.III closer to the centre of the scales ....

It sounds so easy (when you say it quickly and have done dozens of them)

Sounds so easy, and yet ever time I zero one of these scopes, at least one in the proceedings my “final” conformational shot scoots miles from my painstakingly achieved PoI PoA group...
but in truth regardless of if it is easier or harder I would like the key and tongues tools to have a play for my self.

Or, you could figure out the internals of this one and be the fellow who starts to make them up. Clearly, the staff at RSAF(E) soon found they had better things to do than fiddle with the issue tools. Probably a few went to H&H too, but one can't assume too much.
