    Steyr manufactured martini henry???

A friend has a martini henry rifle with Steyr shield markings. I sent him pictures of a Guerdes and he says his gun does not look like that. He is photo challenged so I don't have pictures.
So far my books have been of little use. Did Steyr make Britishicon style martinis????
