It looks like a repop to me.

I go along with Bill on this that it's a reproduction.

Can I ask what makes you guys think so?

The shape and size of the spot welds look ok to me. The thickness of the swivel looks ok too. The screw looks ok. Looks too good to be sixty years old but there are still some in sealed packs out there. It appears to be of the square shoulder type. I would have to hold it to be sure. The fakers are getting better and soon, real will be fake and fake will be real.

The reason why I ask is because it came off a CMP carbine. Have a few 1As and 1 with the narrow swivel, Type 1. Could not find any info on a Type 1 with these types of welds. The others are Inlands, an NPM and 2 that are either Winchesters/Rocks.

Did you receive this from CMP or did you get it from someone else who said they received it from CMP?

Regardless of where you bought the carbine, the band looks counterfeit to me. Getting into a lot of detail as to why I feel this way can only feed the humpers and there cause. I'm not the all knowing carbine guy, that's for sure but I have seen my fair share of fake parts.

If you received it from CMP yourself, Then I would say it is real. I see nothing on it that screams fake. The spot welds are typical of real ones that I have seen. The square shape makes it look unusal. Since it is unmarked, I would use it on any carbine that used unmarked type 1 bands. Two spot welds were typical Winchester I think. Remember, Winchester made 25% of the carbines so being unmarked and two spot welds, it is most likely Winchester.
