Strange sling swivel on Midway M1 carbine

I was one of those that bought a midway carbine, and mine came with a sling swivel that doesn't look like any others I've seen.

Fellow member Floyd the cat noted seeing these bent swivels on the Italian returns.
I've also seen a number of them posted by new owners on Redditt sub forums.

Wondering what type sling hook or snap that may have been used. All the Swivels we've seen are bent in this same manner.
