So out of curiosity I took my 1914 Eddystone bolt and put it in my 1917 Eddystone gun. The bolt would not even close.

When he said the chamber had been changed to a magnum, that opens all sorts of mods being done. The bolt face needs to be opened up and perhaps the magazine box altered and feed lips at the bottom of the receiver. There's no way I'd keep that one now. Send it back and start with a correct rifle.
