So my daughter and son in law come over last night to go to the local fair parade with us and he asks me if I watch YouTube. I really don't that much and I tell him that and he hands me his phone with a picture of him and Ian McCollum.
I laughed and said "gun Jesus" and said I was aware of him and Forgotten weapons. Ian is staying in the local hotel where he works. I was more surprised that he knew who he was as he owns a grand total of one rifle. He's working on some videos for Morphey's Auction House.
Small world.

What would be neat would be go over and a couple gun guys roust him out for a beer and sandwich after work one evening...wish I was closer, would be a good job for us.

Sadly, that could get my kids fired. It's the way of the world these days. Clients are to be given their privacy and even for me to go over to try to say hi could cause issues if he was in a bad mood. My daughter works there also part time during the school year.
I even hinted about telling him his father in law has his book and a small collection and he brought the privacy issue up. I might have a couple of bayonets he might find interesting. None of my firearms are that incredible. He didn't think I would know who he was.
My daughter works front desk and there have been a couple of high profile people, much, much higher than Ian who have stayed there and she doesn't tell me until after they are gone. One is one of the good guys in Hollywood that has family in the area and comes fairly often. In all fairness, she didn't know who he was until the 2nd or 3rd time he stayed and even after finding out, he's too old for her to connect to.
It would be fun however. He seems like he'd be a great guy to talk with. I've interacted with him a couple of times on facebook.

Absolutely. My oldest boy works in hospitality too and when he worked at Banff Springs Hotel he had everyone from the Rolling Stones to Lee Anne Rhymes show up regularly. Lots of stories, but they don't go to be rousted.

Sounds like you’ll just have to hang out at the hotel bar until you happen to see him walk by!
