help with my enfield rifle

New here purchased this no4mk1 just wondering some stuff about it? it has all sniper markings except the t on left side. come with scope, and metal case for it, with sdjusting wrench. Number has been stamped in stock of gun of scope but has different font? got the wood crate for gun as well. it is an m47c with tr stamped.

Hello, & welcome. It's difficult to say too much about your rifle from the limited views, but it appears to be a genuine BSA Shirley No4 Mk1 (T) of 1944 manufacture. It would likely have been blued or brunofixed originally, so has probably been refinished with black suncorite paint (looking at a blown up view of the front pad). It is quite possibly a 'Less Telescope Rifle'. These are not uncommon, & are rifles where Holland & Holland effected the sniper conversion except for the fitting of a scope & bracket. Many of these rifles were subsequently fitted with scopes further down the line, & of course some have had this done in recent years by civilian owners. This may be why there is no receiver side wall T & why the scope number looks a little 'fresh'.

Thank you for the info!!!! I was finding that out that some rifles did not have t reciever mark.yes it does look like it has black paint on it. Here are some pic of scope box and scope. There is a number on the scope box stamped in? Is the number of gun on scope box correct? The little tool wrench for scope has mk1 on it.Thanks any info would be great!!!!!

The scope tin is stencilled with the serial number of your rifle, although the rifle number could be a more recent addition - the white paint of the word 'RIFLE' looks to be yellowing a little, but the serial number looks pristine. However, it could be an effect of the light & I wouldn't want to be too dogmatic about that.

There is also another rifle serial number stamped into the tin, although this would not be a standard practice in UK service - rather a stencilled type serial.

Your scope bracket is an original Rose Brothers variant, though unusually looks to bear two distinct examiners' marks, rather than one. (Rose Brothers bracket usually bear the letters 'JG' or 'KD', but yours bears both).
Additionally, the bracket bears the serial number of another No4 (T), confirming that the bracket (& probably the scope too) had previously been on another rifle.

All the same, not a bad find. I'd give it house room.

From what I have been told in the past your scope can is "original" but not British, it is a Dutch manufactured can used for their small production of scopes and replacements for existing British snipers in stock. I had one also that was stamped with a number in the lid. I will try to find some pictures of it.

thank you for info!!! it looks all authentic, but that number stamped was deffinelty hard to understand. so my understanding of your observation dutch may have put this scope on the rifle?
