That's right. On a grunt rifle if the upper handguard is too tight it will crack from the parts tightening up. On match rifles they are epoxied to the band to keep them rigid and away from the barrel. Then there's a constant space between the gas cylinder and the front ferrule. Your gas cylinder lock should come down only snug on the six o'clock position to be tight. A wrench is the wrong way to go about it. Too tight is too tight. It's rotation of the gas cylinder that effects accuracy more than anything. That's another lesson...Information
