Spacing is standard for the markings and also for the front sight key groove (ends of groove are visible on either side of the sight). There are no markings that I can see on the stock, which is nearly pristine, unlike most of the 1903 stocks Ive seen). Interesting idea though...a P-14 or incorrect aftermarket stock? Ill have to pull out my P14 and compare. Wish I had another M1917 to compare. Thanks for the reply! :-)

I thought about that, but it would be more like 1/4" or slightly more removed to fix a REALLY bad crown or end of muzzle!
