Yes Ron, I was going to mention that, as there are a lot of high numbers but nothing there in that range.

Hello Guys
Just been following this old thread. Can anyone shed some light on a Parker Hale Serial No: S00442? It looks like a 1200TX or maybe an M82?
Any help would be much appreciated

Steve,
Either side of that serial number are recorded and I can confirm its an M82, nothing on yours.
The others all sold to York Guns so thats a starting point if you want to try and track its life.

Hi Gil
Thanks for the information its very useful. Do you know if PH serial numbers would include a mix of models or would a number range be exclusively for one model?
Thanks

Steve,
Sadly the lettering was the PH issue I'm afraid when it comes down to the 1200TX and the M82 specifically. Most had the R prefix and a number the S.
Speaking to three of the engineers over the years, even they seemed to have no answer for Rhyme or Reason for it!!

Hi Gil
Thanks for the reply. Pity PH didn't follow a logial number sequence. Still they did produce outstanding rifles so they are forgiven!

All of the "1200" and "1200 Magnum" actions which Parker-Hale sourced from Santa Barbara came serial numbered by Santa Barbara. The Magnum actions (both PH and Santa Barbara) have MAG as part of the serial number.
Standard calibre Parker Hale rifles of the "R" and "S" serial number blocks run from 1200TX, C3, M82, 1200 "Super Clip", Safari, Varmint, Featherweight ect.
So do Santa Barbara branded commercial rifles...
ETA:
I just did a quick internet search and found "P", Z", "R" and "S" prefixed Santa Barbara marked barrel actions...
I have had a "Z" prefixed PH 1200TX (Z seems to have been used in the late 1960's)

Agreed, it was the prefix stamping R & S that caused issues even beyond those model variants you list above, where it made more sense to keep each letter to a specific rifle and perhaps calibre IMHO.

Any information on serial C05611 available? I only have the serial, no pictures, hence I wondered what model this actually is.

Here is a rifle with a similar serial number sequence
HOLTS Auctioneers
Probably a Youville castings Mauser '98 action with the Mauser 98 bolt and bolted on "Midland" type ejector block.
