Bavarian Carbine stock markings
I have a late NPM carbine that has been in my family since about 1970. It was a Bavarian import and still wears the odd sight mounted on the front of the receiver that the Germans decided to add.
The gun has the correct components for a late NPM, except for the stock and the leather sling. The markings on the stock in the sling well are DD H. I will attach a picture.
Anyone have an idea if this was a mark the Germans added?

crowtalks,
I seen your post and other pictures on TCCCF and believe I can see a OI stamped in the slingwell.
I don't recognize the DD H markings.
Maybe possible they were added before your carbine was obtained by the Bavarians.
There are many questions that will go unanswered from when these were in European hands.
As you've already found out, imagine where we'd be if it wasn't for the work 'The Sleep Less One' Jim Mock has put in.
* For anyone interested here's a link to his post and pictures:

It sure is a interesting carbine having the 2 rear sights.

Yeah, believe I can too. It's about the right place compared to one I have. - Bob

Always Appreciate your illustration help GI Bob,
Without the help from one of my kids, I can't do the rotate, resize, highlight, side x side things. And those kids are long grown up and far away.
The 5 year old Grandson is learning so fast, he's already more PC skilled than myself, but he's in DC.
I'm slowly learning but fear I'm getting older Faster!

We're both probably seeing something that isn't even there. Hopefully, if it turns out that way we can just delete our posts - if we can remember how! - Bob
