No.32 scope eye box

Hello everyone

I have a no.4T build (made out of a legit receiver and barrel, all the rest was parts) with a fake RSM mkiii scope. The eye box on this thing is utterly terrible. What I mean by that is If my sight alignment is not 100% correct, if I’m to the left or right an absurdly small amount, the site image blurs.

A very long time ago I owned a legitimate no32 mki, but I don’t ever remember having that issue with it. My question is that correct, are the originals that finicky with “eye box”? Looking to upgrade to a real one at some stage.

You have got mismatched ocular lenses. There is more to it than that of course but it is all to do with convergence. But as soon as I read that it is a fake No32, from my limited experience with them.........., it could be anything!

Thanks Peter. I suspect that’s case of it being a Chinese repro. It’s a shame your books on the subject aren’t currently in print, I’d pick one up if I could.

I’m going to pursue a real no.32 I think…

I don't have any experience with the Chicom repros of the No. 32 scope, but I have some experience with the Chicom ZF4 as used on the German G/K43 rifles.

They are unmitigated trash.

To fix the problem, I bought a modern Czech-made repro by Meopta, the factory that made the originals under the name Optikotechna in P?erov (formerly Prerau in Greater Unified Germany). I had the X-ray security screeners at a local courthouse look at both, and I took photos of the display to see what's inside. The insides, especially the mechanical bits, are not even remotely similar.

The pointer on the crappy Chinese repro would describe an S-shaped curve as the range drum was cranked up and down -- and it was a different S going up compared to going down. Making the scope absolutely worthless. Basically, it looked like a classic hysteresis curve.
