It's unfortunate that no manufacturer makes ammo loaded with a flat base 174 grain Mk.7 projectile.
A few years ago Kynamco / Kynoch produced a large production run of 'true' MkVII (except using NC in lieu of cordite). It was a non-boat tail bullet wuth an 'open' base pretty much identcal to the original, even giving very, very similar performace figures.
I magaged to obtain a few cases, but down to the last 'couple of hundred' rounds now.
Please excuse the quality of the sectioning of the bullet - a rusty hacksaw blade, as screwdriver and a hammer were used.
Just as a matter of interest they still produce the MkVI round for big-game hunters.

Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

Would be nice to see some here in Nord Amerika, or at least the bullets.

I think the OP was confusing "N.C." as "non-corrossive" instead of nitro cellulose. It's the erosion in the leade or throat of the barrel from cordite that causes instability of boat tail projectiles. It's unfortunate that no manufacturer makes ammo loaded with a flat base 174 grain Mk.7 projectile. The 174 grain boat tails are Mk.8 specification. It's what's available because the factories in
Yugoslavia, (now Serbia/PPU), and Czechoslavakia, (now
Czech Republic/S&B), were set up to produce MG ammo when they were doing it for military use.
I sure did — learning new things everyday.
