I posted about a WRA barrel that was listed for sale.
I have some extra barrels but all only show early band use. 3 Rock Ola, 1 IBM and 1 Saginaw.
Just doesn't seem like a good idea to swap one of these for the BA Blue Sky, when I have other more accurate shooters to pick from.
But after further thought and looking at the last target pictures of my shooting results with the BA Blue Sky barrel on a S'G' shooter I have...... Maybe the BA is good enough, at least good enough for out to 50 yrds. Since punching these targets I put a different recoil plate on it that gave it better lock up and improved the barrel hang above the channel. But I haven't tried it since I swapped the Recoil plate.
I do recall the morning I shot these targets was a 'Shaky' day. Maybe too much coffee or my meds kicking in at the wrong time... IDK
I posted about it here before, along with these pictures. I purchased this for $400 unseen. It was described to me (No Pictures) over the phone by my ex Field Supervisor. He'd met a Gal and was in the process of moving to the St Louis area. It was offered up by a young guy he was working with while in Missouri. I overheard another worker offering him $250 for it while we were on the phone. I told my guy I'd pay $400 and if he got it any cheaper that he could keep the extra $$ Plus I'd give him a $100 for a finders / Delivery fee. He delivered it on a return trip gathering his belongings for his move. Said $400 covered it all. I figured it was at least worth $400 just in parts, even with the BA Blue Sky barrel on it. I can say it's the 1st Carbine I'd seen with a Cast hammer in it. I remember a Stan Pro bolt but don't recall much more about internals.
Maybe this year with a big piece of cut Rosin Paper with a target on it I'll see what it does at 75 and 100 yrds. I'll try if the range isn't too busy
@50 yrds before shooting target number 3 I lowered my hold and set the 3" Bullseye on top of the frt site blade. Like a golf ball on a tee. Compare #3 to the higher holds on 1 and 2
** What do you think... Good enough for out to 50?
I found some past posts where I included these pictures. In one it describes the morning I'd had. I'd forgot about it seeming like it was shooting tighter groups as the barrel got dirty.
ETA: I just purchased my first ever Recoil Check (F in Oval) from Eddy. Always wanted to play with one but was concerned about finish wear on / around the barrel / Frt sight. That wouldn't be a concern on this one.

Agree with Jim, shoots OK, I'd leave that barrel on it.
After you get a chance to shoot with the recoil check let us know what you think, I have shot many times with one attached and personally cannot tell any difference.

I am a firm believer in testing any barrel b4 one changes it because of a muzzle erosion measurement. I came by an import barrel that swallows a gauge on the cheap and screwed it into a SG receiver. If I do my part, I can cover three holes in a target with a quarter. 25-yards though, but I can’t see much past that anyway.
I don't put much stock in a 25 or 50 yd target. An SR-1 @100 yds is a good look at what the gun can do. I have always liked the 6:00 hold using military sights. When I was 20-20/20-10 I shot well, but now it is tougher but I still use the SR-1. 25/50 is pistol range. I am no longer a good shot.

USMC Wayne and I had been discussing these F in Oval Recoil Checks, when I came across 1 Eddy had listed. I've never owned any type RC before. Just bought it to have one. And since this carbine isn't one you'd worry about scratching up, I thought I'd try it on this one for fun.
I've been trying to get used to new Transitional eyeglasses since last fall. I don't care for them and keep using my old ones, but my old ones need some more Ummmp. These new ones are the first Bi-focals I've owned.
Haven't shot with them but will give them a try. With my old glasses and rifles I'm good on the 25yrd, but am losing the rear sight to frt sight to target picture at anything farther out.
Other than hand guns @ 25 and 50yrds I've been using scoped rifles for anything farther out. My Father would be ashamed of me for not using irons only. He said scopes were for Cheaters.
I hate shooting in the cold and snow especially now that I'm older. Weather slowly breaking here so soon I'll hit our range. Just for a quick fix I shoot handguns from my Dock with a neighbor and one of our new local police cadets. I'm right on the line... So OK to shoot from my Dock across the river in to out log back stop. I lease that land at a trivial fee for hunting, fishing access, Morel mushroom and Deer shed horn hunting. I also keep it posted and keep strangers out.
Getting older, shakier and blinder sucks. Thing is here we can still get snow in early May. But the range is close being just a country block from me. About 5 miles north as a crow flies, About ~8 miles around the block. Gear is semi packed having the Wife's Walter P22Q to dial the lazer in and a new Marlin bolt action tube fed .22 LR wit a scope on it (that I can't remember the model name of, but not expensive). Bought the Marlin for Woodchucks that come up from the river bank. Both have bore sighted, so just need some tweaking (I hope).
Much of the winter spent reloading. Still have plenty of components but getting a little worried about primers... Still have a good sized stash, but still worried about them for the next few years.
BTW: I found this Scammer site listing all the Primers and Powder you'd ever need...... BEWARE:
Charlie, It can get to the point where you take apart an M1 Carbine and have trouble getting it back together - happened to someone I know last night! - Bob
GI BOB,
I probably have 4 or 5 coffee cups scattered around the house and garage with those Cheater Glasses from the grocery store. Don't get me wrong, I've lived here since 1985 and can only recall 2 trips there. 1 for Mosquito spray the other for ....... Can't remember, but pretty sure no more than 3 trips there max. Wife gets tired of hearing me asking where are my old man cheaters and often buys them a 1/2 dozen at a time and spreads them around here.
Maybe a lucky week for me... Monday my pet Chipmunk- 'Chippy' showed up in the garage and took some peanuts from about 3' away from me and today I seen our 1st Robin of the year. Seeing your 1st Robin of the year is a big thing here. I took a picture through the window screen of my Alpha Chipmunk 'In Action' last spring... See attachment below
Another Pleasant surprise today: While trying to clear out some junk from the reload room in the basement, I found 1 time shot brass I had bought from some of JimF's WTS adds here. Had forgot all about it and hadn't noticed because they were still stacked in the USPS Priority Large Flat Rate boxes they came in. I use a lot of these type boxes to store misc stuff, like hand guards etc. Didn't count contents but found 7 shipping boxes full of .45ACP, .357, and M1 Carbine.
And 2 others much heavier at the bottom of the stack, one having 4 thousand per box of Carbine bullet tips (Zip lock bagged in 100's). 2nd box about 50-50 zip locked .45acp and .357. I dug in to that one but couldn't get them all packed back in the way Jim had them (Nice and neat).
This will read Anal / Prepper but I spent time over the winter and itemized all the new and loaded rds I have (all calibers), empty brass, bullet tips (including weights/profiles), Powder amounts/types and all the different primers I have on hand. Just subtract from as I load. Now I'll add the forgotten about stash from Jim.
