Bren Slings original or repro???
These Bren slings were sold to me as new old stock Australian
"long Le Enfield/Bren slings" that had been in storage for many years. While the webbing strap looks good I can't make up my mind about the attachment of the brass ends and how they have been riveted on. There appears to be no washer on the side that has the rivet peened over and the riveting appears a little "ham-fisted". There are no markings on any of the slings.
I just really want to what I have got as repro stuff does nothing for me.
Many thanks for looking and any replies.

The rivets look like tube rivets to me.....FWIW
If they are Auzzie they will have a makers name on them.
No makers name and no marks on the brass. Hmm...
The brass does look too good to be true and I do not ever recall seeing sling material on the loose.

One of the equipment repairers told me once that when inserting rivets into webbing while repairing it, it was MOST important NOT to cut through the webbing. Once you cut the webbing, you have immediately cut its load-bearing strength. What you have to do is support the other side and press through a tapered 'awl', Hammer it through and wiggle it until the hole opens up to the rivet size and THEN push the rivet through and rivet over. If you fail to repair or manufacture like this - or blindly punch a hole through with a hole uunch, there is no strenngth left at the end part of the webbing. It WILL fray off and fail.
I would unpick one of the slings and if the rivet hole is punched through then it's a fake I'd say. But it does seem like a lot of effort has been made to punch out ends and end clasps......

I don't think they are 'Australian
' either, more likely Indian made reproductions

Thanks for all the response. As soon as I saw them I thought that they were repro but I wanted a 2nd opinion before asking for a refund. The vendor was ok about it and gave me a refund after I sent them back. Thanks Chaps.
