And when I've taken out the stock bolt, I'd grind off the square section at the end so no poor soul screws up the fore end in future.
Wood is getting scarce, and personally I've not known a bolt becoming loose in civilian use... has anyone?

Which was an official modification announced in an EMER, with a note that ...........

"The end bolt should be 1 complete thread inside the butt socket" (below the surface)
