It's quite possibly one of those that were originally fitted to the modified PPCo rings (?? Bartle ?? mounts). A nice piece, but very expensive. I recently picked up a clean example of an Aldis for 800 GBP, which was not a steal, but was reasonable. I would have thought a mountless but clean scope is probably worth somewhere in between what I paid & what matey-peeps is asking for his..................
I suppose it all comes down to how badly you want one.
IIRC the electro-pencilled rifle number ("C 1625" in this case) is only found on the 600(?) No.4 Aldis set up in the enlarged PPCo. rings, aka "Bartle" rings. Given the wonky "1" I'm not certain that is a "C" rather than an "O" either.
Was it 600 Roger? I forget now. And wasn't this a stop-gap as the supply of scopes was exceeding the rate of fitment to rifles at that point?
