It isn't. The US requires an importer license to import firearms. Not sure how that affects antiques, but a Frenchrolling block is not an antique, made after 1898 in 1915 and 1916. My Berdan II which was imported by RTI does not have an import mark. Not sure if that means it was missed or it didn't need one. It is an antique. My various rifles from IMA also lack import marks so I assume antiques do not require it.
There are exceptions for servicemen returning home. There are a few Afghan bring backs of old firearms, no automatics however.Information
