Interesting Carbine

I was recently in Kayenta, AZ. and stopped at a Burger King. They had a nice display of Navajo Code Talkers and I thought this pic was interesting. I took more pics of the display, but this was the only one with a Carbine.

Adjustable rear sight and push safety...does that make this a later pic? 1944/45?

Looks like it might have a Type-5 slide. Is that a Winchester stock?

These Navajo Indians have my deepest admiration in what they achieved in WW2 flumexing the Japs.
I did a lecture some years ago on radio procedures and the security surrounding each of the trained code talkers who had their own protection officer. Should they believe they were about to be captured they were to kill themselves and if that was doubtful the PO would do the honours.
Now that was real bravery. These lads alone saved hundreds of thousands of lives on the islands.

I've heard a lot about the Navajo Code Talkers in the Marine Corps, but did the Army have them? They were in the Pacific as well.

Once the Marines Corps realised their true worth, they took part in many assaults across the Pacific in various formations. The key was to keep the formation as small and as tight as possible for securities sake.

It amazes me how the Navajo and most Indian nations were dealt with as a minority in the States up until the World Wars, same as the Red Tail Crews flying Mustangs over here in WW2.
Sad when we are all human beings and so many diverse cultures have so much to offer, and it is only when the chips are down their true worth comes to the fore, and so many attained the highest medals for bravery!!
What the hell would I know about history, all I know is my dad always told me:

That's what I assumed when I saw it. I didn't think they sent out adjustable sights until August 44?
